Hi! I am an experienced tutor currently earning a Bachelor's (Hons) in Applied Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh. I graduated high school in Italy achieving 100/100 in the final state exam and an average 95% across 11 subjects, and am particularly adept at tutoring mathematics and English as a second language.
I am good at breaking down difficult topics into a series of simple steps, and coming up with examples to make a topic easier to understand. I am able to help with understanding topics, memorizing techniques, and problem solving methods.
I know each student learns best with different methods, so I use a variety of different approaches to help a student get a good grasp of a topic.
Learning is an active process, so lessons that are interactive tend to be the most effective - going back and forth with the student, figuring out what they have trouble and finding the right way to explain the topic.
At the beginning I make sure to understand what you're hoping to get out of the tutoring, and see what textbooks/learning resources you're using.
In helping a student understand a topic, I am good at coming up with creative examples and ways of thinking about it, drawing parallels with other topics they know.
To help with solving exercises and problems, I will teach problem solving methods, showing the student how to frame a problem and break it down into a sequence of simple steps to get to the solution.
I am able to commute (including but not limited to Morningside and New Town) and I am available for both at home and online tutoring.
Please get in touch if you have any questions!
